In 1994, Sankara Guruthasar Sri Mahendra Swami started to realise the importance of a ‘guru’. With the support of 50 followers, he started to organise various religious activities. In his early years of doing this, the Sri Raja Rajeshwary Temple in Ulu Kelang, Ampang was very helpful in supporting the effort. Later, in 1997, Swami Mahendra, along with 6 of his disciples went to India to meet Sri Kanchi Kamakothi Sri Vijayendhra Saraswathi Swamigal.
